This policy explains how Sydney Driveways collects, uses, stores and discloses personal information, and how you can access it, correct it or make a complaint. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
The short version. Sydney Driveways is a quote-matching service, not a building contractor. When you submit an enquiry, we pass your details to one independent driveway specialist so they can quote your job. We do not sell your details, and we do not pass them to multiple contractors.
Who we are
Sydney Driveways operates the website at sydneydriveways.com. We connect homeowners in Greater Sydney with independent driveway specialists. We do not carry out driveway work ourselves, and any contract for work is between you and the specialist.
What we collect
When you submit an enquiry, we collect:
- your name;
- your phone number and email address;
- your suburb;
- details about the job — driveway type, approximate size, and anything else you choose to tell us.
We also collect limited technical information automatically when you visit the site, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view. This is used to keep the site secure and working properly.
We do not collect sensitive information as defined in the Privacy Act, and you should not include any in your enquiry.
Why we collect it and how we use it
We use the information you provide to:
- match your enquiry to a driveway specialist who covers your suburb and does that type of work;
- pass your details to that specialist so they can contact you and quote;
- contact you about your enquiry, including matching you with a different specialist if the first is not suitable;
- maintain and improve the service.
Who we disclose it to
We disclose your enquiry details to one independent driveway specialist so they can prepare a quote. That specialist becomes responsible for the personal information they receive and handles it under their own privacy practices.
We may also disclose personal information to:
- service providers who help us operate the site and manage enquiries, such as hosting and email providers;
- anyone else where you have consented, or where we are required or permitted by law.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not distribute a single enquiry to multiple contractors.
Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers may store data outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Direct marketing
If we send you marketing about our service, every message will include a way to opt out, and we will act on an opt-out request promptly. You can also ask us to stop at any time using the contact details below.
How we store and protect it
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We keep enquiry information for as long as needed for the purposes described above and to meet our legal obligations, then take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.
